Legendary Gerda Taro a jewish war photographer

Gerda pohorylle 1 august 1910 - 26 july 1937 known as professionally as Gerda Taro, was a jewish war photographer active during the spanish civil war. She is regarding as first women photo journalist to have died while covering the frontline in a war.Taro was a companion and professional partner of photographer Robert capa.

 Early Age

Taro was born on 1 August 1910 in poland and brought up in middle class jewish galician family instuttgard and leipzig attend a swiss boarding school. In 1929 the family moved to leipzig just prior to Nazi germany taro opposed the NSDAP in 1933 following the party coming to power she was arrested and detained for disturbing the propaganda against the National Socialists.

   Spanish Civil War 

when the spanish civil war broke out 1936, Taro Traveled to Barcelona Spain to cover the Event with Capa and David. They covered the war together at Northeastern Aragon and southern cordoba province.

                                         Gerda Taro used Rollei Camera 


Taro used Rollei Camera which was which was Rendered square photos while capa used rectangular how ever they produced 135 films in 1937. Taro attained some independence. She refused marriage proposal with capa she became publicly related to circle Taro photographs were in demand by international press  when alone she was covering the Brunete reign near Madrid. Taro camera was the Testimony of the actual situation.

 During her coverage of the Republican army retreat at the Battle of Brunete, Taro hopped onto the footboard of a car that was carrying wounded soldiers. A Republican Tank crashed into its side and Taro suffered critical wounds, dying the following day 26 july 1937.On 1st August would have been her 27th Birthday.
Due to her political commitment Taro had became an anti-fascist figure. On 1st August 1937 on what would be her commissioned Albertio Giacometti to create a monument for her Grave.

in early 2018 a photograph purported to be an image of Taro on her Deathbed in English war hospital was released by the son of Hungarian Dr. Kiszily who treated her.
